intuition
Recently I've been thinking a lot about intuition. And part of that is because I've been getting a lot of really good questions around it since our master class, but also, I was just thinking about it
today, actually, and how some people describe their intuition in a way that you know, they heard a voice or whatever.
How do you train yourself to hear your intuition?
The answer is not clear cut, which is very annoying. I understand completely. I spent years learning my intuition: learning how to listen to it, how to KNOW that it was my intuition, and how to trust it.
And the thing is~ my intuition is multifaceted.
It doesn't show up just in a singular way. One of the ways it shows up is that I get what I want. And I know I've said this before, but I really do when I decide something, and I go for it, I get what I want. And maybe it's not necessarily what I expected, but it is what I want.
And that's part of my intuition.
And another part is, I have learned to trust that I just know. I don't know why. But I just know. And learning to trust that I don't need a reason, I don't need to justify that. I just know. I know when it's time. I know. Now's the time to do that thing.
Now's the time to go take needles out of my patients. (When I was in clinic) I would just be sitting there taking notes, and doing paperwork and filing insurance claims and all the stuff that I hated. And all of a sudden I’d know: they're ready, go take their needles out. Or they need something and I learned to trust it over the years because nine times out of 10 was spot on.
Same with herbal prescriptions, right so I'm you're talking to me, (I wasn't the best at herbs by any means) but I knew and I learned oh this is the thing. Go for it.
Moving to Italy. I knew that this is what I'm doing. Same as when I decided to sell the house. I decided to sell the house like the week before I moved. And I was just like oh I just know.
And I realize it's very vague and very frustrating. Especially if your intuition is different than mine and you don't just know and you don't just get what you want. If your process is different, it's gonna look differently for you.
But the cool part in that is we all have intuition that we have the opportunity multiple times a day to let guide us but we have to learn to trust it and honestly it took years I think the first several years of working with my mentor, Kimberley, was solely focused on learning my intuition, and how I could learn to begin to trust it so that I didn't have to test it. I could just know. Here's where we're going, here's what we're doing. This is it. It's time. I'm getting what I want.
So where do you start with intuition? If you can't hear it or you don't know what it is for you or how it shows up for you.
The first thing that I would suggest: is to get quiet.
My intuition today showed up while I was in the middle of a meditation mid morning, and I was like, Ah okay, it's time to do these things. Let's go to them. And my day unfolded very differently than I had planned.
So get in a quiet space and spend 10 minutes just in the quiet. If it's with a meditation, and that's your jam, do it. If it's not just go get somewhere comfortable and close your eyes and be quiet for 10 minutes and see what pops up for you.
The other thing that I would suggest might take a little bit more time but it's worth it. Sit down and write down the times where you did something or made a decision or made a move in your life that didn't really make sense, but you knew it was a thing that you needed to do. Write those down and see what themes pop up.
When I realized I'm the kind of person that gets what I want, I realized it while telling somebody the story about all of the dogs that I've had in my life. And I said to him in that moment, I get what I want. And it was this huge realization because I realized that is a running theme throughout my life.
In addition to the dogs, it's happened in other ways. So taking the time to write down where things have worked out for you and see how your intuition has shown up for you in the years and if you still want some more directed help and guidance, holler at me.
It's something that took me years of working on to understand the full extent of my intuition, but there's so many different ways that it shows up for you and so many different ways that we use it throughout the day.
And I realized today that my intuition doesn't show up like most of how I see it explained online. And so for me to grow in that trust and knowing took a long time. And it's still one of those things of like, this isn't how people describe it. And the beauty of it is it doesn't have to be it's yours. It's going to show up, however works best for you. But you’ve gotta start trusting that process and doing the little things along the way.
